I am wondering why I haven't been blogging for such a long time.

It is really nice to know that there are actually people who bother reading my blog. This comes as a real surprise as I write crap most of the time as least that is what I feel.

Anyway have recently moved to the country and I am desperately trying to buy a car and rent a place. I feel so crippled without my own space. And this is the 3rd time I have moved this year. It is fine if u travel to a place to work and stay there for 3-5 years but who ever move 3 times in a year working for 1 single company? I really hate the feeling of going to a new place and having to set up a new home.

It’s fine to travel cos you know you can come back to a place which you call home. At this time home is at limbo for me. Not sure where it is.

I guess I have my good days and my bad days. Unfortunately I only blog when I’m in my extreme lows nowadays. I’m sorry I’ve to subject all of you to my insane crap.

I know I can handle all crap in life. No matter how hard it is I will not let people have the satisfaction of seeing me fail. And if I do fail, at least I know I’ve have tried my very best. And no one can fault me with that.

The Happenings

Can’t believe I’ve stopped blogging for half a year… so much has happened in the last few months…. Short Vacation, KDRAMA movie marathon, visitations, cakes, pies and impending retrenchment … where do I even begin.

The past few months have been a whirlwind experience for me. The longer I work here, the more I hate my job. Where is this all going? Work is boring and not the least bit exciting. I can’t see myself doing this for the rest of my life.

But the worst bit is, after putting all the hard work into a company, the company looks to retrench or shift us around like dummies. I am so sick and tired of all these crap. Geez man, when people leave the company, the management says there is no loyalty but where is the company’s accountability to their staff to begin with?

There isn’t anyone working anymore. This sure doesn’t look like a corp. office no more man. Why can’t they just announce it now!!! I think I am going mad just waiting for the news.

But the positive side to it all is that in all my misery, I have started polishing up my culinary skills. I made curry puff, apple pie and just last night, apple cake. I am sorry I don’t have any pictures to proof my skills. You just have to take my word for it. Oh…I baked turkey during Christmas too (Almost forgot about that one). It was therapeutic.
(Oh...another way to relieve stress is to wash the bathtub. It works for me all the time. J)

I have been catch up on my KDRAMA’s (courtesy of TheDoll AKA TheToy to some). I would strongly recommend, “Goong” (AKA Princess Hour) or “I am Kim Sam Soon” to all of you who enjoys romantic comedy. (BTW I only watch happy KDRAMA.) Seriously I have to say that it is better then “Full House”

I went back home for a couple of week in Feb and my parents came for a short visit a couple of weeks ago. It was all good.

But I still hate my job!

I watch the movie "Millions" last Monday and this it's probably one of the best movie I have watched this year.

I will remember a part of the movie, where the boy was talking to his dead mother. He asked her if she was a saint and she said she isn't one yet but is in working toward it. The boy said "You have to perform a miracle first before you can be a saint right" and his mom replied,” But I already did... I had you"

The first words that come out of a person mouth often reflect their honest opinion of a matter.

I was reading about the new article regarding the NSW Opposition Leader John Brogden’s resignation after he labelled Bob Carr's Malaysian-born wife a "mail-order bride" and pinched the bottom of a female journalist at a function last month. (SMH: Brodgen Resigns after racial slur row )

I was thinking to myself, is this what Aussie guys really think of Asian women? If such words came out of a politician’s mouth, (who should have really, really been watching what he says), can you imagine how the masses really do think of the Asian women community? OMG…. do they really think that all Asian women are sex slaves or something like that?

In another article, it was written “He said he hadn't shed a tear this morning after making the decision to resign.” (SMH : Just 1 Tear)

Was he really sorry for what he said. He was probably “bruised” from the fact that he had to quit because he "voiced" his most HONEST opinion.

To look at the positive side of it all, at least we know what is his "HONEST" opinion of Asian Women!

In a bid to help my poor sister and mother, I have searched the website for a source of baby food for poor allergic prone bLuke.

Just to give u guys a bit of insight, bLuke is allergic to every kind of milk found in the world (with the exception of breast milk), rice powder as well as baby food in bottle.

And to make matter worst, he is also emotionally distress (yes…he is only 6 months old) because he doesn’t get enough milk from his scrawny cow (which is his mom)

You know, the world if full of people who thinks they are right. They think they are right in everything. And when I say everything, I mean everything...

Seriously I think this is the wrong approach.

They should be like me. Pretend you are ignorant to everything. This is especially important for a person who has just joined a new company.

I fervently believe that aggression comes with seniority.

A clear example is shown in the latest episode of "The Apprentice". Tana is aggressive and authoritative. She has all the leadership qualities but her aggression makes her look like a bitch.

On the other hand, Kendra is clearly a person who uses relationship skills to her advantage. You should always try to be a team player. This is especially important in a small group environment

In my current office, there is 1 Kendra and 1 Tana.... I wonder who should be Donald Trump

Just had a discussion with my colleague on why horizontal hierarchy doesn’t work in the Asia and the discrepancies in work titles in the different region.

And my colleague asked me a strange question. What do our company call all the people who works in the company?

He was saying that we don’t have a real term to address the employees in our company but in other companies they call their staffs “Associates”.

Wow sure gives u a sense of ownership of the company doesn’t it! (I am trying to be sarcastic here).

Anyway I think in Asia we have no problem being just a headcount. I don’t think we really care as well. Well at least I don’t. I don’t mind being call anything as long as I am paid well.

What’s the point of being called a GM (General Manager) and getting RM1, 800 a month right…

Ok Ok i know i am annoying and that is why i am NOT missed...I have been here for a week now and boy do i miss home man...Anyway the weather is freaking cold and i think i am seeing the first signs of wrinkle under my beautiful eyes due to the intense eye-to-screen contact.

I have made a pledge that I will write an entry everyday before i start work to let you guys know what have been going on in my life (just in case anyone is interested)
I skipped lunch with my colleagues today so that i can write this blog. I miss writing on my blog. It is therapeutic

David just asked me how to use the If function in Excel. I think i better read my excel bible faster man if not all the strange question are going to pop up.

Anyway just to let all of you know that I am back in Malaysia/Singapore and have been trying to catch up with all my friends (who has indicated that they will not miss me when I am gone… how sad...)

Well my 3-week stint in Melbourne was enlightening. I saw the making of Ghost Riders, which is the latest Nicholas Cage movie. Can u imagine me standing on William Street in the middle of the night just to see a couple of cop cars drive up to AXA building for 10 times! OMG... I think I am crazy!

Just thought I let u guys know that my Excel skill has improved tremendously (at least that’s what I think…) I KNOW HOW TO USE VLOOKUP :)

Anyway its good to be home!

I have survived my first week in Melbourne as a member of the work force. I am still adjusting to the different cultures around the office. Unlike Uni of which everything is based on a module system, at work you have to face your colleagues everyday irregardless you like them or not. You are alien to their routine and all you can hope for is that there is work for you to do everyday so that you won't have time to feel bored.

But I think I will survive it all. I sure hope I do.

Anyway the highlight of this week is that I got drunk on Friday night and puked my guts out. I promise myself that I would never drink like that ever again. I thought I almost died.

All I can think of during this weekend is my bed. I am so tired. I really need to sleep.

In the midst of all the uncertainty, this is certain.

I will be leaving for Melbourne next week to start a new chapter in my life. For some of you who are still wondering, I’ve been posted to the office in Melbourne for an indefinite period of time.

The next few days will be catch-up time with all family and friends and It's going to be tough. I have never been very good at farewells and meeting up with all my friends has been and will be a very stressful session for me.

At the place that I was giving tuition today, the students and teachers actually gave me a surprise farewell. I am touched by the gesture and surprisingly was compose throughout the whole event. Not a single tear ok. I am so proud of myself. This waterfall actually didn’t cry. That’s an achievement for me.

Anyway I have to start packaging soon. If I have borrowed anything from any of you, please tell me soon so that I can return those things to you.

If I am not able to meet up with all of you so please do not be offended, I will be back again. Someday, just don’t know when. If you have the time, please visit me. Give me a call or something and I would love to meet up with all of you again.

Let me know if anyone is getting married or is pregnant. I would love to witness it all if I could.

Blogging Parents

I told my parents about my blog and they were so excited about it, even though they have no idea what a blog is.

My mom said that she wants to start her own blog too (BTW she learned how to e-mail just yesterday) and my dad says that I should talk to him more often so that I can pen down HIS thoughts on my blog.

This got me thinking….

How often do we take time to hear to what our parents have to say? Do we actually listen to our parent’s thoughts and ideas?

But why would we want to? I mean already we are up to our neck at work, being verbally abused by our bosses and colleagues…why would we want attend another symposium at home?

I think we have a tendency to take our parents for granted when we are staying with them. We ignored their valuable advice and ask them stop meddling in our lives (Unconsciously, I think I have done)

But think about it, our folks don’t really have much people to talk to. As they get older, they have more things to say but less people to listen to them. Their kids obviously aren’t interested…

Now I am living out on my own, I sort of miss bickering with my parents. Serious!

As much as we need someone to talk to, I think we should make it a point to talk to our parents because they too need someone to listen to them.

I am trying to make it a point to call my parents once or twice a week because I know I would rather listen to them then read their blog….

I watched these 4 movies and most of them bore the hell out of me.

I really dislike watching bibliographic movie and ain't sure why the Academy of Motion Picture Art and Sciences would nominate 3 bibliography movie for best picture this year.

Bibliographic movies are really subjective. This sort of movie only forms a bond with the viewer if they are familiar with the characters or with their achievements.

Yes ... yes... i know you would be thinking that most average American's would be familier with these personalities but are movies really made only for the American viewers?

Lets take a show like LOTR......What is the global contribution to this movie is about $3 billion in WORLDWIDE box office, another $1 billion in WORLDWIDE DVD sales and $1 billion in WORLDWIDE merchandising. This is because New Line Cinema was able to create a show with a GLOBAL appeal.

How much revenue do u think the "Aviator" will bring in, taking into consideration that not many people around the world know who he really is.....

Coming back to the movie......I really only enjoyed "Finding Neverland" simply because I absolutely love the Book "Peter Pan"
"Aviator" or "Ray" is simply boring. All i can say is Jamie Foxx is a good impersonator.

Alfie sucks! Its so freaking boring.

Advice to all movie makers out there:
YOUR VIEWERS SEEK TO BE CHALLENGED.

Lets hope New Line Cinema will be able to challenge the world with "The Dark Materials". BTW any new which production company has bought the rights to Dan Brown's Da Vince's Code yet?

Why is it that my parents never let me drive? I’ve gotten my licence like umpteen years ago man… since I was 17 ok…. But each time I want to drive, they wouldn’t let me go near the car. I think I only have my sister blame man… YES…bLuke’s mother.

You see a couple of years ago, my beloved sister drove my mom’s car through the front gate and was going for my dad’s precious car before she finally found the brakes next to the accelerator.....

Anyway, years have pass and I am still struggling to get my mom to let me drive her car. My parents have come out with every possible to dissuade me and here are some examples: (Btw, my mom insist that there must be someone in the car with me and the person can’t be my sister)

Scenario 1
Me : Mummy can I drive today?
Mom : No lah… It’s so late already… There are a lot of cars on the street now
Me : But its only 10 am
Mom : Well if u want to drive u have to wake up at 8 am. There are fewer cars at that time
Me : ……

Scenario 2 (Jan XXXX):
Me : Mummy can you take me drive today?
Mom : No Lah… I’m busy today (my mom is retired by the way)
Me : But you always say that. And you won’t let me drive by myself…
Mom : Well Daniel can take you driving…
Me : But he only comes back once a year!
Mom : You’ll have to wait for him to come back then…
Me : But that will be in December….
Mom : Well you will have to wait then… Anyway he’s got a strong heart….
Me : ………….

Scenario 3 (Trying a different tactic):
Me : Pa, can I drive to church today?
Pa : Can…. Go ask your mom….
Me : Never mind……..

One reason why i hate having my mom in my car

(When I first got my driving licence):

Me : Mummy can I drive today?
Mom : *grumble grumble* hmmm…ok…
Me : YEH…..
Mom : Ok but I have drive the car out of the driveway first
Me : *grumble grumble*… ok
Driving on the road…
Mom : STOP…..
Me : Huh… stop for what?
Mom : STOP… CAN’T YOU SEE THE TRAFFIC LIGHT?
Me : Huh… what traffic light?
Mom : The traffic up ahead lah
Me : Huh… How come I can’t see it…

(After driving for another 5 minutes, I finally saw the traffic light)

I have given up hope of ever driving alone

My friends and i have always talked about starting our own business. We were trying to find the ultimate business to go into and figured that it would probably be ideal for us to venture into the fashion business.

That was until I stumble onto this website Snog Blog . It's FULL of websites started by enterprising young Singaporeans selling everything from bag, shoes, wine, cloths, pet food,etc....

These are the two movies I watched recently…

Closer
Ask yourself these questions before you watch the movie….

What is love?
Do you believe you can fall in love with a stranger?
Do you believe in love at first sight?
Do you yearn to be close to someone?
Do you really know the one you love?
Is loving someone draining you out?

The movie doesn’t provide you with the answers to the questions above but it sets u thinking. The dialogues are fantastic but it takes you sometime to figure out how the characters are related to each other in the movie. If you like “Lost in Translation” you would like this movie as well. If not, you can skip this one too.

Definately a movie with both romance and lust.

Maria Full of Grace

The plot is simple but the reality of the world hits you hard when you are poor. The movie gives you an insight into the work of drug couriers beautifully portrayed by Catalina Sandino Moneno (aka Maria) and her friends.

This show is worth both your money and your time.

Pepsi launched a new campaign in the Asian region in an effort to promote 2 of their new product, Pepsi Ice and Pepsi Fire. I am sure you would all have seen it somewhere or another, be it in the cinema or on billboards.

Pepsi has a long history of using celebrity endorsements to help market their products. The list of international superstar ranges from Michael Jackson in the early 80’s to Britney Spears, Beyonce & Pink in the early 2000’s.

The soft drink giant also carries out regional or country specific campaigns with the help of local celebrities. They used Delta Goodrem in Australia, Jolin Chai and Vic Chow in China, to Theirry Henry & David Beckham in UK.

I believe many of you would have seen the ad and is thinking to yourself “Who is that girl?” What I can’ t understand is why for the Asian region, did they use Tata Young?

I am sure many of you marketer out there would be tell me that Pepsi’s intention is to tap the Thai market which has long been dominated by Coke. But if that is their intention, why did they put Vaness Wu in the picture and not their other tennis hero, Paradorn Srichaphan?

Is categorising the Asian regionally really the best way to stretch your advertising dollar?

How effective is celebrity endorsement in a diversified cultural environment anyway?

I just bought this CD lately and it’s really very soothing. The best thing I like about this CD is the Janet Seidel sings every song in both English and French. The funny thing is that I can’t imagine she is actually not very young. But her voice, its really very young. If I haven't check out her website, I wouldn’t have known.

If you like French CD, another of my personal favourite is “Cafe De Flore: Rendez-Vous a Saint-Germain-des-Pres”. It’s Chill world music that makes you happy.

Ok ok.... I’ve been receiving question about bLuke’s parentage…

While it may come as a shock to many of you (I am sorry I couldn't invite u guys, cos its not my wedding), I would like to assure u that my sister is happily married and is REALLY the proud mother of bLuke.

bLuke is now 2 ½ weeks old. He is so much heavier now man.... i carried him and his head is so heavy now. It’s so fun to see a baby grow man. U can actually see the difference on a weekly… really.... But he is greedy… He drinks lots of milk... he actually gulps down his milk.... I have never seen any baby drink their milk so fast. Then again, I have never seen much babies being fed before...

I am back to the mundane activity of like (commonly known as work) after the short and not so relaxing Chinese New Year holiday. I was suppose to cook as I "LOUDLY" announce in my previous posting but only manage to cook 2 or 3 times the most last week cos my mom keeps on insisting that she cooks.

HEI MY FOOD IS NOT SUCKIE!

It’s just that I am a bit SLoooooowww…

My mom whips-up 3 dishes in 1 ½ hour while I will take 3 hours...

BUT my food taste better then my mom’s.... SERIOUS!

I can't believe my sister is actually a mom now. That petite girl who looks 18 (she is much much much older then that) is a proud mother of a 2.91kg baby boy...

I am so proud to be an AUNT... I AM AN AUNT...but then again, my bother-in-law's cousin who is 6 years old is also an aunt...........

After looking at what my sister when through I have decided that I will wait a while before I venture into motherhood. (Trust me… it is really AGONIZING, EXCRUCIATING, PIERCING, UNBEARABLE PAIN). I when into the labour room, you see (courtesy of a family friend) and I was HORRIFIED! I AM SCARRED FOR LIFE!

BUT IT’S OVER (Hop…. Hop… around).. YEH!!!! I HAVE A NEW NEPHEW!!!

I promise my mom that I will cook for my sister during her confinement (medicine process or time of giving birth: the period of time or the process of giving birth, beginning when a woman goes into labour and ending when a child is born)

We CHINESE (even though we are Christian, we are CHINESE) believe that the period after giving birth is really important. The new mom needs to have lots and lots of nutritious food (which is spiked with ginger and sesame seed oil.)

I made sweet date tea for my sister. Women in confinement are supposed to drink this in place for 30 days.
What u see her is just remnant of what is left of the whole pot.

I witness a snatch thief saga during dinner. I was jittery the whole nite… and I really mean THE WHOLE NITE….

I am freaking out... my sister is having contraction and may deliver her baby anytime soon... I feel queasy all over when I think about it....

The feeling is like when we are young and we have all these games whereby we try to pop a balloon by sitting on it. That how I feel now…the suspense of not knowing when the balloon will pop. When will this suspense ever end?

Then a balloon pops it releases all the air trap inside. When u give birth, can u image all the blood that oozes out with the baby… now that is scary... ARGH.... can u image all the blood…(ok major queasiness now)

OK… this is coming from someone who hasn’t given birth to any kid and hates balloon…

And I was thinking of going home tonight to plaster my wall.... I would have problem doing that now. I am ON-CALL now.

Anyone know if we can paint wall tiles?

I made baked potato shell on Sunday. But I forgot to take a picture of it... so this is a substitute of how it looks like…. (Except mine looks better).

I had delicious Cheddar cheese on melted all over the top of the potato shell with bacon bits on the cheese. You eat it with Salsa and Sour Cream.

HEAVEN… Very filling…but never the less HEAVEN!

DELICIOUS!

I wish u all tasted it but unfortunately I ran out of shells. Oh well.... we'll see how it goes.... if I have the time, will have to make some potato shells myself, which I don't see myself ever doing. I am just too lazy....

OMG... another late nite...Arrrgghhh.........

Tonight I will attempt to learn how to upload picture man... if not I will look like a mountain tortoise.... It’s about time I learn too...

Tonight I was looking at people who put up personal ads... OMG... why do some of them even bother man.... No don't get me wrong... I have nothing against people who put up personal ads online, in fact I think some of them are pretty cute.... BUT PLEASE... For Goodness Sake.... why do people bother putting up ads if they are married? R they looking for another wife? HELLO!!...

And there are those people who put pictures of drop-dead-gorgeous people like Takeshi Kaneshiro in their personal ads... WHAT R THEY THINKING MAN! How can another person-on- the-face-of-this-earth replace Takeshi Kaneshiro????! I mean who do u think the ad will attract? Would anyone make friend with a person who is ashamed of their own look? Have any of you ever wondered why cheesy ads (such as Glower and Slimfit) are always shown in the middle of the night?

Does it mean people ugly, fat and bald people stay up late and all beautiful people sleep early?

The air spaces are cheap (in fact I think it is practically free) in the wee hours of the morning, but I am sure there is must be reason why these ads are on and not Coke or Pepsi.
